SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Today District Attorney Michael Ramos announced the filing of murder charges against 57-year-old Jerome Rogers.
Rogers was arrested by officers of the San Bernardino Police Department Friday in connection with the home invasion robbery and murder of 76-year-old Mary Beth Blaskey of San Bernardino in November 2012.
“The details of this particular crime show a cold-hearted disregard for human life,” District Attorney Ramos said. “When you take into consideration the vulnerability of the victim, it only makes it more difficult to understand how someone could commit such a crime. We intend to pursue this case to the fullest extent of the law and ensure that justice is carried out for the victim and her family.”
Rogers is scheduled to be arraigned today at 8 a.m. in Department 21 of the San Bernardino Superior Court. If convicted as charged, he faces 75 years to life in state prison.
This case was investigated by the San Bernardino Police Department and the investigation is ongoing. Deputy District Attorney Cary Epstein is prosecuting the case. To view further details, click here.
