DA Finds Non-Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Upland Legally Justified

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.  – The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has completed its review of the non-fatal officer-involved shooting of Jacob Kispi Katoa, 19, of Upland, by Upland police officers on October 5, 2012. Due to officer safety concerns, the names of both officers involved in this incident are being withheld.

Under the facts, circumstances and the applicable law, the deployment of deadly force by the officers was a reasonable and necessary response to the facts presented and was justified under the laws of self-defense.
