Former Rialto Unified School District Accountant Accused of Stealing Charged with Multiple Counts of Embezzlement

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Today, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office filed felony charges against Judy Oakes, 48, of San Bernardino, in connection with the suspected embezzling of $1.8 million from the Rialto Unified School District over eight years.

Oakes was charged with 8 counts of Embezzlement by Public or Private Officer (PC 504) and 8 counts of Public Officer Crime (PC 424).

On Aug. 7, Oakes was arrested by Rialto Police and booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga after she was recorded on video stuffing school lunch money into her bra. She was released on $50,000 bail on Aug. 8.

If convicted of all charges, she faces a possible 11 years in state prison.

Deputy District Attorney Jason Liso is prosecuting this case. No further information will be provided at this time.
