SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.– An Apple Valley man who repeatedly raped a close family member over the course of six months was sentenced today to state prison.
Victorville Superior Court Judge Eric M. Nakata sentenced 61-year-old Ellery Thomas of Apple Valley to state prison for 64 years and 8 months.
A jury found Thomas guilty July 14, 2015, of two counts of Forcible Rape, four counts of Forcible Oral Copulation, two counts of Sexual Penetration by Foreign Object, one count of Incest and one count of Sexual Battery.
Prior to sentencing the victim read the following Victim Impact Statement:
“Good morning your Honor. Thank you for allowing me at this time to make a statement. I can tell you that this experience has been a living nightmare. Besides all the pain I endured, I am ready to put all of this behind me and move on with my life. I believe that my coming forward will keep a lot of people from becoming a victim under his state of being. Thank you your Honor. I have nothing more to say. Thank you for your time.”
