SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – A San Bernardino jury recommended death today for a man convicted of raping and murdering 30-year-old Sylvia Galindo at a Fontana bakery in 2001.

The recommendation came after jurors convicted Gilbert Sanchez, 54, of Montebello, in Nov. 2015.

A judge will make the final decision on sentencing Sanchez at an upcoming hearing scheduled May 27 at the San Bernardino Justice Center.
