San Bernardino man sentenced for the 2013 fatal beating of an elderly woman

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Freddie Weston, 36, was sentenced Wednesday for the 2013 murder of 84-year-old Lorna Gable.

San Bernardino Superior Court Judge J. David Mazurek sentenced Weston to 25-years-to-life in state prison. On Feb. 1, Weston pleaded guilty to first degree murder.

Gable and her 96-year-old husband, William Gable, were both brutally beaten in their home by Weston, who was arrested eight days after the investigators released a sketch of the suspect in the attack. William Gable survived the attack, but Lorna Gable died a month after the incident.

“The individual who committed this terrible attack on two of our elders was held responsible for his crimes,” District Attorney Mike Ramos said. “While the pain for the victims’ family members will certainly last a lifetime, justice was served.”

This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Carey Epstein and investigated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
