District Attorney Ramos Releases 2nd Quarter Gang Stats

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.  – The latest gang statistics for the second quarter of 2017 have been compiled by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office.

Statistics for the quarter of April 1, 2017, through June 31, 2017, show that 149 cases were filed from all divisions. There were 170 state prison commitments obtained with a total of 1,086 years of state prison and 5 life terms.* Eighty-nine (89) gang enhancements were found true and 7 were found guilty by jury trial.

One defendant—Adelanto gang member James Ellis—was sentenced to death for the 2009 double murder of 28-year-old Ealy Davis, Jr. and 26-year-old Shameka Reliford (Read more: https://goo.gl/FRWp1f).

“Holding these local terrorists accountable for their criminal actions is about making our streets safer,” District Attorney Michael Ramos said. “It’s about securing justice for the victims, it’s about protecting our future. But with every conviction and every battle we wage comes the responsibility to be just as proactive with our prevention and intervention programs. From the community policing efforts of our local law enforcement partners to gang prevention programs across the county, we are working hard to make San Bernardino county a safer place.”


Since the Gang Program’s inception in July 2005, 11,215 cases have been filed; 3 on death row; 6,852 state prison commitments; 51,190 years + 303 life terms in state prison; 3,247 gang enhancements have been found true and 428 were found guilty by jury trial.

 

*LIFE TERMS FOR THIS QUARTER INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING CASES:

Raul Martinez: Gang member Raul Martinez sentenced to 32 years to life for stabbing a man because he wouldn’t give him a cigarette (Case # FSB1503926).

Juan Fuentes: Gang member Juan Fuentes, who had a prior strike conviction, was sentenced to 80 years to life for the murder of 25-year-old Roy Craddock, whose body was found lying near the entrance of Muscoy Elementary School, with six close range gunshot wounds to the head(Case # FSB1105456).

Jose Ibanez: San Bernardino gang member Jose Ibanez was convicted of attempted murder for a 2015 shooting that occurred in the center lane of Base Line street in Highland. (Case # 16CR-018708)
