Documents must be filed with the Secretary of State in order for a business entity (corporation, limited liability corporation or limited liability partnership) to operate in California. This web site provides the public with the ability to check with the Secretary of State to see whether a person doing business is operating as a Limited Liability Corporation, Limited Liability Partnership or as a Corporation. This information can help investigators to find out who is running a business that may not have the required workers’ compensation insurance. Click here to learn more.

Businesses that are operating in San Bernardino County that are not a corporation, limited liability corporation or limited liability partnership on record with the Secretary of State need to be on file with the County Auditor. This public filing puts the public on notice as to who is operating a business.
